It's official...No this is not fun!

Ok, I tried to be positive about this and I think I was doing a great job until the stomach flu hit me yesterday. I woke up weak and nauseated and then got worse. There's something sickening about knowing you have to throw up and can't flush the toilet!!! Oh, well that leads me to another story. Dad and I got the bright idea that we could fill up containers with water from my pond to use to flush the toilet. That's probably the most fun I have had all week. Mom thought we were for sure going to fall in and the water would be so cold our hearts would stop. We assured her we would only get below the chest or if we fell in upside down, we would catch each other after we got neck deep. Anyway, she didn't find us humorous at all. I don't think we have even used the water we got yet. Cheryl and Bobby have been here and they have running water at their house so we have gone there to get jugs of water. We were able to get generators and that has been a big help. This morning we had pancakes for breakfast. I really didn't eat any because that didn't sound good, but all the others loved being able to eat hot food. The kids have been absolutely wonderful. Nat has entertained us by singing and Reese has read us books. (his version anyway). Well, we still don't know how long this will last, but we are hanging in there. BB is working himself to death. He wishes he could be here with us but his duty is out there helping the people of the city. And I am sure he is doing a wonderful job. I couldn't count the hours he has spent out there. But, each night his says, "it's still not great but things are improving. Most of all I feel better today and can help with my own kids and dog. I know everyone else will be glad of that. Until later...

"Not Fun!"

Or is it? We have been without power now for about 36 hrs and boy how much fun we have had. Work was called off for me anyway, so the first day Reese and Nat and I hung out at home. I worked on getting the DVD player on the computer to work for about 2 hrs Tuesday morning and that never worked. Then we played matching games until daddy came home. Ben and Shayna called to see if we wanted to go and eat. Jo and Shannon called to tell us they had power and to come and stay with them. Then they called and said never mind they no longer had power and they were going to a hotel they booked way ahead of time just in case. So, we went ahead and went to eat with Ben and Shayna. Little did we know, that we would not be able to make it back to our house due to trees falling all over the place. So, after 5 different tries, we gave up and took Danny and Theresa's offer to stay at their house. They didn't have power but since they were on city water, they had cold water at least. They had gas logs too that were very, very, warm. So we went over there and had a very nice night's sleep. Danny got word that Home Depot was getting a shipment of generators in this morning and off him and BB were to get one. Once that happened, we had tv and warm water for a shower. THAT WAS GREAT!!! Even though it hadn't really been that long since I had a shower it still felt great probably because we are unsure when the next one will be. Then daddy came back to get us and venture back home to MM and PP. We were also bringing home a generator. That is how I am typing the blog right now. So, although we don't have water, we have a fire place and every now and then we will have computer and tv. We will see. Right now I need to get up and help PP cook the grilled cheese on the grill! Yum. I dare say, and let the adventure begin. We have absolutely no idea how long this will last. Pray not long, but pray for those so much less fortunate than us.
